My personal
hints and advice for your trip
Hol-ry ....... Redeye This is a greeting between
canoes. Hol-ry were crackers/bread that they had long ago and the
red juice/koolaid made a "red eye" in the pot. So if you
have the crackers I have the juice and we can sit and have a snack.
So one canoe will holler out Hol-ry and the other canoe will return a
call Redeye. (Hol-ry is pronounced hole rye)
I encourage you to get the Northern Tier Historic trail Badge:
Requirements are to canoe down the boarder trail between USA and
Canada, camp one night on it, and do a skit about the history of the
Voyagers from the 1700s and 1800s. This is a very impressive Badge.
It is metal hanging on a ribbon.
